Some Common Plumbing Problems

There are many problems that homeowners face and one of them is plumbing problems. Plumbing problems can be of different types. Here are some of the most common ones. In this list, we will also find out how to identify these problems, and give you a few DIY solutions.

Many times our drains get clogged. If your drains are clear, then water will not collect in the sink or tub but simply passes quickly. IF the water does not drain, then your drains are clogged. Soap and hair are sometimes the cause of clogged drains. One way you can attempt to clear the clog is by pouring hot water into the drain to dissolve soap. Solid objects in the drain can be removed with a drain snake or a wire coat hanger.

You can also use chemical drain cleaners but these can damage your plumbing. A heat reaction with water will result because of the lye present in chemical drain cleaners. Your plumbing can be burned and damaged with this. If you are unable to solve your clogged drains, then you should call your professional plumbing service and repair company.

Another plumbing problem that you can encounter is toilet backup. The blockage can be cleared with the use of a toilet plunger. Otherwise, pour hot soapy water from waist height to flush it. It is either the toilet will flush from the force of the water or the bowl will simply fill and not flush. After pouting 2 to 3 buckets of water, your problem may be solved.

It is annoying to have a leaking faucet and it will also lead to an increased water bill. It is a handle problem even if the leak is in the faucet’s mouth. If you have a double handle sink hardware, then you need to determine which handle is responsible. Turn the hot and cold valves off one at a time and find out which handle is leaking.

You should remove the parts once you have found out which handle is leaking. You need to clean the pieces and replace the cartridges and o-rings as necessary. Your handle will have a proper seal if you clean the parts. There is nothing to be replaced.

If there is no proper water pressure, then washing dishes will take much longer. When this happens, it is important to clean that aerator. There is a slowing down of pressure if minerals and sediments build up. It is important to check if there is rust in your aerator. Replace the rusted parts. You can clean your aerator by brushing or soaking overnight in vinegar. You should then place it back tightly.

If you have tried everything but your plumbing problem persists, then you should call in your professional plumber to solve the problem.
